Sex and Gender in Emergency Medicine
The mission of the Sex and Gender in Emergency Medicine (SGEM) Interest Group is to raise consciousness within the field of emergency medicine (EM) on the importance patient sex and gender have on the delivery of emergency care and to assist in the integration of sex and gender concepts into EM education and research.
Group Objectives
- Promote research collaborations amongst members to further determine the impact of sex and gender differences in emergency care.
- Identify opportunities for members to speak as experts in sex and gender differences within specific subspecialty areas at regional and national conferences and events.
- Provide mentorship opportunities for students, residents, and colleagues in understanding the impact sex and gender have on the quality of care delivered in an acute care setting.
- Develop collaborations for funding mechanisms that enable opportunities for members to obtain a research grant designed to explore differences in acute care.
