Fellow Awards
SAEM will recognize several fellows in subspecialties of emergency medicine who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field in the areas of education and research. Recipients will have shown a significant dedication to to their subspecialty
which may be demonstrated through teaching recognition, awards, grant-funding, publications, involvement in innovative educational curricula, and regional or national presentations. Recipients may also have demonstrated research excellence via key
participation in, presentation of, and publication of impactful research.
The nomination period for 2025 SAEM Awards is October 1 to December 9, 2024.
Please note that the SAEM Awards Committee has developed a standardized letter template for you to use when creating your nomination packet.
Eligibility
Recipients must be SAEM members and have completed a residency in emergency medicine or pediatrics prior to fellowship. Recipients must be a current fellow or in their first year after graduation. Previous recipients of the award are ineligible for further
nomination for this award.
Candidates may be nominated by any SAEM member and are evaluated by the Awards Committee on their accomplishments in knowledge creation, including:
- Didactic/bedside teaching (with impact assessments)
- Courses - development, advancement (with impact assessments)
- Awards
- Scholarly works (research text chapter and textbooks, reviews)
- Presentations at regional, national, and international meetings
- Grants
Guidelines
The nomination must include:
- A current CV of the candidate
- A brief (1 - 2 paragraph) biographical summary
- A cover letter by the nominator addressing above areas and the impact on emergency medicine, delivery of care or understanding of illness/therapy (please download the standardized letter template available above to create your cover letter)
- While not mandatory, a maximum of two (2) additional support letters may be submitted (these may use the standardized letter template or be written free-form, limited to 2 pages)
- A color photo of nominee (.jpg 300 DPI high resolution)
- Person nominating award candidate (including mailing address, phone and fax numbers and email address)
- Contact information of department administrator or media persons that should be notified if the award is received.
