Medical Student Symposium
This day-long symposium will outline the specialty of emergency medicine (EM) and navigating the match process for applicants. During the day, leaders in EM will discuss strategies for applying for a residency position. Speakers will discuss clerkships, away rotations, personal statements, interviews, and the match process. Students meet with EM program and clerkship directors during the day to learn more about individual programs.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate whether emergency medicine is the right choice for their career in medicine
- Describe training and practice options within the specialty of emergency medicine
- Illustrate the process of applying for a position in an emergency medicine residency
- Identify key strategies for a successful interview
