Mbale, Uganda

Fellows will also have the opportunity to work clinically at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, a government run not-for-profit hospital, with a catchment population of 4.5 million people from 16 districts. Mbale is located approximately six hours by road from Kampala in the eastern part of  Uganda. Fellows can work in both the pediatric and adult acute and inpatient care areas. We also partner with a local NGO and fellows will have the opportunity to work at Joy Hospice as well.

In addition to clinical care, the UW Global Team has built an ultrasound training program with the aid of a Global Health Institute Seed Grant. The program focuses on training for pediatric and adult providers in POCUS. Fellows will have ample opportunities to teach POCUS during their time in Mbale and to develop educational content for asynchronous learning.
