The GEMA American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Health Committee strives to promote the health and well-being of American Indians and Alaska Natives by improving the delivery of emergency care through research, education, and mentorship within a framework that recognizes the unique cultural contexts of this special population.

Goals for 2024 - 2025

Highlight and work towards addressing the pressing conditions in Pine Ridge, SD through the scope of emergency medicine
Address barriers to medical education by engaging with youth and promoting pathways to pursuing medical careers in emergency medicine
Identify academic research opportunities in IHS and Tribal led emergency departments for GEMA members to engage
