AWAEM Research Funding Award

Applications for the 2025 AWAEM Research Funding Award are now open. This funding is intended to support research projects aligned with the AWAEM mission of promotion, recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in academic emergency medicine. This award is ideal for pilot projects and multi-centered research studies that are not being funded by another source. We encourage all applicants to also consider submitting their application in spring 2025 for the larger SAEM Foundation/AWAEM Research Grant.

Requirements/Eligibility

• The principal investigator must be a member of AWAEM
• IRB approval (if applicable) should be obtained

Criteria

Projects will be prioritized based on:

• Alignment with AWAEM’s mission and objectives
• Significance and potential for impact
• Feasibility within the funding time frame
• IRB approval at the time of the application submission

Budget

The AWAEM Research Funding Award will provide up to $1000 of research support for use during the specified calendar year. Funds may be used for direct project related costs and must be spent by December 31, 2025. Any unused funds will be returned to AWAEM at the end of the award period.

Grant Determination and Timeline 

Materials will be reviewed by the AWAEM research committee chairs (if no conflict exists) and members of the AWAEM executive committee. A determination will be made by early January and funds will be disbursed by mid-January 2025.
