AGEM Medical Student Scholarship
Purpose: AGEM seeks an interested medical student who is enthusiastic about caring for older adults in the emergency department to attend AGEM events at the SAEM Annual Meeting. The recipient will attend the AGEM meeting and have the opportunity to lead a 5-minute presentation or discussion on a geriatric topic or case on a national stage as well as submit an article for SAEM's Pulse. AGEM will also cover the winner's SAEM conference fee and SAEM membership fee.
Application consists of:
- One page letter of intent discussing the applicant's reasons for applying and a brief overview of the geriatric topic or case they would like to present.
- Current curriculum vitae and contact information.
- Letter of support from the applicant's Dean or another official in their school assuring the applicant the time off from rotations to attend the SAEM Annual Meeting if chosen. Dean's Letter Template
Eligibility: Applicant must be able to attend the AGEM business meeting. Student must become a member of SAEM and AGEM (AGEM will cover the cost for medical students to Join SAEM). This scholarship is not open to the incoming AGEM medical student representative, who will be supported by the AGEM Medical Student Representative Scholarship.
Award: 1 scholarship will be awarded per year and covers the winner's SAEM Annual Meeting registration fees, AGEM Networking Dinner registration, as well as the winner's SAEM membership.
