Emergency Medicine Development in St. Lucia

Stony Brook University's Division of International Emergency Medicine is working to encourage the development of Emergency Medicine on the island of St. Lucia. Working with our EM colleagues at Owen King EU Hospital in Castries and St. Jude's Hospital in Vieux-Fort, Stony Brook IEM has sent residents, fellows, and attendings to practice in St. Lucia. In addition, we help coordinate the annual Topics in Emergency Medicine Conference in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia. In coordination with Stony Brook Division of Ultrasound, we have been holding annual Point-Of-Care Ultra Sound education across the island. Stony Brook IEM has also been working with the German NGO Global EMS along with our partners in the Royal St. Lucian Fire SErvice to train preshospital providers in resuscitation and airway techniques.
