Emergency Capacity Strengthening in Mbeya, Tanzania

Prisma Health Richland Department of Emergency Medicine has partnered with Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital (MZRH) in Mbeya, Tanzania to strengthen emergency services. MZRH is a 477 bed government hospital and referral center. Prisma Richland residents, fellows, and faculty rotate in the emergency department throughout the year and focus on teaching pre-assigned emergency medicine topics to general practitioners working in the ED. Past initiatives have focused on emergency ultrasound training, disaster preparedness, and trauma capacity development.
