Development and Grants Committee

Chair: Sean Kivlehan, MD, MPH

The Grants and Development Committee works on sourcing funding opportunities for faculty, fellows, and residents pursuing research in Global Health and International Emergency Medicine. We aim to provide competitive grants that Academy membership can apply for with the goal of advancing the body of literature.

Information and Technology Committee

Chair: Andy Muck

The goal of the IT Committee is to create innovative and interactive information exchange platforms that disseminate information on global health topics.  

Didactics Committee

Chair: Allison Hayward, MD, MPH

The goal of the Didactics Committee is to plan and develop GEMA’s educational and didactic presentations at SAEM and other academic meetings where there is GEMA representation. They will liaise with other committees or SAEM Academies for joint endeavors. 

Research Committee

Chair: Adam Levine

The GEMA Clinical Research Committee seeks to expand clinical, translational, and implementation research into the epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of acute disease worldwide by bringing together academics and practitioners from high-, middle-, and low-income countries together to overcome common challenges to in conducting emergency care research, especially in resource-limited settings.

Health Systems Committee

Chair: Emilie Calvello, MD 

The role of the Health Systems Committee is to engage interested parties around the role of acute care in diverse health systems throughout the world. The group is committed to creating durable solutions for the provision of acute care under the pillars of leadership and governance, health workforce, service delivery, equipment and supplies, financing and health information systems. We work to advocate for the importance of acute care among the larger global health community.
