Call for Abstract Reviewers

Submissions: CLOSED

Abstract reviewers have the opportunity to sample a broad swath of current research in emergency medicine, and to have a major impact on our field by helping to decide what research gets presented at our Annual Meeting.

Qualifications:
You are qualified to review abstracts if you are a fluent English speaker and meet one of the following criteria:

  • You have first-authored two or more peer-reviewed original research articles, or
  • You have an MPH, PhD, or equivalent non-clinical health care degree.

Residents are welcome to volunteer if they meet the above criteria.

If you are qualified and willing to serve your community in this crucial task, simply notify us by emailing education@saem.org by November 1, 2016.  In your email, please use the subject line “Abstract Reviewer” and be sure to provide your full name, your institution, and your mailing address.

You will review up to 75 total abstracts in your role as an abstract reviewer for SAEM.  The abstracts will be scored according to the SAEM abstract scoring system.  When scoring abstracts, it will be  very important to follow the scoring criteria literally and score each domain independently. Please don’t let your feelings about one domain (such as importance) influence your scoring of any other domain (such as validity).

Abstracts will be available for review by December 14, 2016. You will have to complete your work scoring the abstracts by 5:00 pm CST on January 4, 2017. All scores will be submitted using our new online system.
